The beginning of July each year marks the start of the new Rotary year and at the Wylde Green Club outgoing President Nick Thurston handed over the chain of office to his successor Ken Hawkings.
Nick’s main charity of the year had been the George Coller Memorial Fund, a local registered charity launched in 2000 to raise awareness about asthma and to improve the healthcare provisions for all children with the condition.
Many other local charities have also benefitted from donations during the Rotary year.
He made a point of thanking his Club Council, Officials and his wife Penny for all the help and support they had given him during his year in office.
Ken Hawkings spoke of how committed Nick had been as Club President, totally supporting all Club events throughout the year. He added how fortunate he believed the Club is to have Nick as a member.
