TV comic Omid Djalili is to headline the next big night of stand-up at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall, it was revealed today.
The popular comic, who is also an acclaimed silver screen actor having appeared in the likes of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, Gladiator and Sex In The City, will top the bill at the next “Live At The Town Hall” on Friday January 25.
Djalili will be supported by two acts tipped for super stardom who have both recently done live TV stand-up on Comedy Central in the shape of Stephen Bailey and Rosie Jones.
It will be hosted, as with the first show, by resident MC Wayne Beese, from Dudley.
Tickets went on public sale this morning (Sun) and are expected to be snapped up quickly, with the first show at the hall selling out in just two weeks.
Organisers Funny Beeseness moved quickly to put on another date after James Acaster, supported by Phoenix Nights star Archie Kelly, Rob Deering and Peter Brush, wowed a sell-out crowd at the first event on Friday night.
Wayne revealed the shows would now be a regular thing at the hall and run quarterly, with further dates next year in April, July and October, saying:
“We’ve had such good feedback since the first night with James Acaster that it became a bit of a no-brainer. It’s an absolutely fantastic venue for live comedy and there is clearly a demand for it.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have secured Omid to headline the next one. He’s an icon in British comedy and we’re sure he’ll draw just a big a crowd to Sutton as James Acaster did.
“The two support acts are both brilliant too – Stephen and Rosie are both just breaking into telly and you can expect to see a lot more of them in the coming years.
“All in all it promises to be another killer night of live stand-up, and we would urge people to snap up tickets quickly before they all run out.”
Tickets range from £18.50 to £22 and are available at www.ticketsource.co.uk/funnybeeseness
