Two Sutton Coldfield youngsters have raised in excess of £1000 for John Taylor Hospice in remembrance of their Nanny Anne.
The local hospice cared for Nanny Anne prior to her death in December and the boys wanted to do something in her memory to say thank you. Training hard by cycling with Dad Lee and running with Mum Gemma, seven-year-old Sam and fourteen-year-old Jake successfully completed last weekend’s Birmingham Kids Fun duathlon raising £1021.
Writing on his fundraising page before the event, Jake said:
“I love nan and when she was very ill John Taylor hospice cared for her and looked after her the nurses were very caring and helpful. We lost nan on the 11th December 2017 we were all distraught and upset. I know nan is looking down on me and all of us and I am going to make her proud.”
While Sam wrote:
“My Nanny went up to be with the Angels last year and I am doing this 200m run – 1km cycle – 500m run challenge on June 23rd so she can watch me and I can raise money for the people who helped her when she was poorly.”
Parents Lee and Gemma said:
“We are so proud of what they’ve done both achieving their own goals and challenges and wanting to do something important to remember their Nanny. The money they have raised is superb and is a thank you for what JTH did for their Nan and the family.”
Kerry McGrath, Community Fundraising Manager at John Taylor Hospice, said:
“We’re very proud of Sam and Jake as we know how hard they have worked to raise money for us. The generous support of fundraisers like Sam and Jake means we can continue to be there for local families when they need us. We’re so grateful to them for their support and would like to congratulate them both on their incredible achievements.”
While Sam and Jake have raised a fantastic amount in aid of John Taylor Hospice there is still one day left to add to that amount by visiting their LocalGiving pages and making a donation, how ever big or small, in memory of Nanny Anne.
